Weather Forecast
Climate
The Maldives have a tropical monsoon climate. The weather is dominated by two seasons: the dry season associated with the winter northeastern monsoon and the rainy season which brings strong winds and storms. The shift from the dry northeast monsoon to the moist southwest monsoon occurs during April and May. During this period, the southwest winds contribute to the formation of the southwest monsoon, which reaches Maldives in the beginning of June and lasts until the end of August.

Transportation
How to get there?
Most visitors arrive at Male Velana International Airport (MLE). The airport is located on Hulhulé Island, adjacent to the capital Male. From there you can take a ferry to Male (10 MVR/1 USD).
How to get around?
The islands are small enough to walk everywhere.
How to get from town to town?
It’s actually how to get from island to island 🙂 No surprise this is best done by boat. Though there are different types of boats. To travel between atolls a speedboat is recommended. Some islands also offer seaplanes as means of transport. They are rather expensive though.
Money, Money, Money
Currency
The official currency of the Maldives is Rufiyaa. However, the resorts and most tourist places like souvenir shops take USD. Check out the currency converter to find out about current exchange rates.
Accommodation
There are a lot of veeeerrry expensive resorts on the islands of the Maldives. But you can also find affordable accommodation on local islands for around 40€ per person per night.
Cash
If you are travelling from the US, just bring along US Dollars. They are accepted in all touristy places. If you are travelling from any other country it might make sense to get some US Dollars as well. Resorts wont’t accept Rufiyaa and if you are only staying at a resort island you will need Dollars. If you are going to a local island however, you should withdraw around 30€ per day.
